COMMANDCentral Lite
Authentium, Home of Command Software, is proud to introduce
COMMANDCentral and COMMANDCentral Lite Version 5.00.1.
COMMANDCentral is our centralized management tool that allows
you to perform the following administrative tasks quickly and
easily:
- Download Command AntiVirus updates and upgrades
- Customize features and settings prior to pushing out to
computers across your network
- Push Command AntiVirus out to selected computers across
your network
- Manage your antivirus protection across your network (Premium Only)
COMMANDCentral Lite is just like our Premium version but without
the Network node functions.
NOTE: COMMANDCentral can be installed on the following
Microsoft(r) Windows 32-bit platforms:
- Windows Server 2003
- Windows XP Home with Service Pack 1
- Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 1
- Windows 2000 Professional
- Windows 2000 Server
- Windows 2000 Advanced Server
The COMMANDCentral System Requirements and installation
instructions are contained in an Installation help file
called CCINSTALL.CHM. This file is included in the
self-extracting file, on the Command AntiVirus CD, or
you can download it from our web site at:
http://www.authentium.com/support/documentation/index.cfm
Just double-click the file to open it.
The COMMANDCentral Getting Started Guide contains System
Requirements, installation instructions, and information
to help you get started protecting your network against
virus threats.
The guide is included on the Command AntiVirus CD,
or you can download it from our web site at:

The guide is a PDF file that can be read with the
Adobe(r) Acrobat(r) Reader that is included on the
Command AntiVirus CD. For instructions on how to install
Acrobat Reader, see the README.TXT file that is located
in the ADOBE folder on the CD.
If you do not have the Command AntiVirus CD, you can
download Acrobat Reader from Adobe Systems Incorporated
through our web site at:

A Release Notes section is provided for each release. It
contains the following topics:

SPECIAL NOTES
* The System Requirements for COMMANDCentral have changed:
- For this release, COMMANDCentral can only be installed
on the following Microsoft(r) Windows 32-bit platforms:
- Windows Server 2003
- Windows XP Home with Service Pack 1
- Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 1
- Windows 2000 Professional
- Windows 2000 Server
- Windows 2000 Advanced Server
- You MUST have Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher
installed
- You MUST also have the following prerequisites installed.
SETUP.EXE has been enhanced to install any of the
prerequisites that you may need:
- Windows Installer Version 2.0
- Active Directory Service Interfaces (ADSI) client
- Microsoft Management Console (MMC) Version 1.2
- Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) Version 1.5
- Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC), Version 2.7
with Service Pack 1
- Microsoft XML Version 4.0 with Service Pack 2
* For this release, COMMANDCentral supports the management of
networked computers running the following Microsoft Windows(r)
32-bit platforms:

Administrator's Guide are for versions of COMMANDCentral
prior to Version 5.00.1.

PRODUCT ENHANCEMENTS
* The COMMANDCentral System Requirements and installation

* With the exception of Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0, SETUP.EXE
now installs any additional prerequisite files that you may need.
NOTE: As a result of this and other product enhancements, the
size of the self-extracting file has increased.
* COMMANDCentral now contains a management console based on the
Microsoft Management Console (MMC). The COMMANDCentral console
contains easy-to-use wizards and tasks that allow you to protect
and manage your network quickly and easily.
The COMMANDCentral Console is opened automatically at the end of
the installation, or you can access it from the Windows START menu.
From the COMMANDCentral Console, you can:
- Set up a remote Command Software download site
The Download Configuration Wizard allows you to:
- Select an HTTP Download Server location for your region,
for example, US (FL)
- Enter your user name and password for the selected location
- Enter your Proxy Server user name and password, if applicable
You can start the Download Configuration Wizard by clicking the
EDIT SITE AND CREDENTIALS task on the REMOTE SITE taskpad.
- Connect to the selected download server location
You can connect to the selected download server by clicking
the CONNECT TO SITE task on the REMOTE SITE taskpad.
- Download the latest updates and full product
You can download the latest virus definition files, product
update, and/or full product by selecting the file in the
REMOTE SITE details pane and clicking the DOWNLOAD NOW task
on the REMOTE SITE taskpad.
- Schedule the latest updates and full product to download
automatically
You can schedule virus definition files, product updates, or
full product to download automatically by selecting the file
and clicking the SCHEDULE DOWNLOAD task on the REMOTE SITE
taskpad.
- View a Scheduled Download Log
You can also view a Scheduled Download Log by clicking a
specific download folder and then clicking the VIEW DOWNLOAD
LOG task on the taskpad.
- Delete downloaded files
You can remove downloaded files from the detail list by
selecting the downloaded file in the details pane and
then clicking the DELETE task on the taskpad.
- Customize the Command AntiVirus installation
The Custom Installation Wizard allows you to:
- Enter a configuration name and select the computers for
which the configuration applies.
- Specify a shared network folder on a Primary server and on
any additional servers that are to be used as a Software
Distribution Point (SPD) for the configuration. The
configuration contains all of the Command AntiVirus full
product and update files (administrative image).
- Select the features and settings that you want to install.
You can start the Custom Installation Wizard by selecting the
full product file in the FULL PRODUCTS details pane and
clicking the CONFIGURE INSTALLATION task on the FULL PRODUCTS
taskpad.
- Push a configuration out to the computers for which the
configuration applies.
You can send a configuration out to the computers specified for
the configuration by selecting the configuration in the
CONFIGURATIONS details pane and clicking the PUSH TO CLIENTS
task on the CONFIGURATIONS taskpad.
You can also send the configuration out to a specific computer
in the configuration by right-clicking the computer in the
CONFIGURATIONS details pane, selecting ALL TASKS, and then
clicking PUSH TO CLIENTS.
NOTE: A configuration can be pushed to a Windows NT 4.0 computer
only when a user is logged into that system.
- Apply updated virus definition file and product updates to
a configuration.
You can apply updated virus definition file and product
updates to a configuration by selecting the downloaded file
in the details pane, and then clicking the APPLY NOW task
on the taskpad.
You can schedule the virus definition file and product
updates to be applied automatically by selecting the
downloaded file in details pane, and then clicking the
SCHEDULE DOWNLOAD task on the taskpad.
- Access the computers on your Network (Premium Only)
You can access all of the computers on your Network by
selecting the Active Directory folder or the Windows domain
folder under NETWORK in the COMMANDCentral Console Tree.
- Specify your network login user name and password. (Premium Only)
Although the program logs you in as the current user by
default, you can specify a different user name and password
as needed to manage the computers on your network. You can
enter another user name and password by clicking a domain or
computer under NETWORK in the COMMANDCentral Console Tree,
and then clicking the LOGIN CREDENTIALS task on the NETWORK
TASKS taskpad.
- Run a Protection report to determine which computers on your
network have Command AntiVirus installed. (Premium Only)
You can run a Protection report by clicking a domain or
computer under NETWORK in the COMMANDCentral Console Tree,
and then clicking the PROTECTION REPORT task on the NETWORK
TASKS taskpad.
- Run an Infection report to determine which computers on your
network have a virus infection. (Premium Only)
You can run an Infection report by clicking a domain or
computer under NETWORK in the COMMANDCentral Console Tree,
selecting ALL TASKS, and then clicking the INFECTION REPORT
task on the NETWORK TASKS taskpad.
- Perform a virus scan on a selected computer. (Premium Only)
You can perform an on-demand virus scan on a selected computer
by clicking a computer under NETWORK in the COMMANDCentral
Console Tree, and then clicking the SCAN FOR VIRUSES task on
the NETWORK TASKS taskpad.
* COMMANDCentral now contains HTML help. You can access help by
pressing F1 or on the COMMANDCentral Console menu bar by clicking
ACTION and then HELP.
