The Authentium Personal
Firewall SDKs is application-intelligent, and optimized
for both Windows 9x and Windows 2k/XP end point
environments. The Firewall SDK enables easy,
low-level interception of web page requests and serves
at the heart of several parental control and end point
access control modules currently in deployment through
leading application developer channels.
The content filtering feature is implemented in a network driver that is inherently
more secure and resistant to tampering than conventional approaches using Layered
Service Providers (LSP). LSP-based content filtering and parental controls products
are extremely easy to circumvent using free tools available on the Internet. Spyware
makers often use the LSP approach to create spyware that monitors network traffic;
this creates the possibility that legitimate software using an LSP may be mistaken
for spyware. Authentium's Firewall SDK employs NDIS and TDI drivers that provide
packet filtering, application control and network interception capabilities in an
easy-to-use API for application developers.
